Sebastopol Center for the Arts

The Sebastopol Center for the Arts tasked Persinger Architects with transforming a cavernous former Veterans Memorial Building into a flexible art gallery and performance space. Innovative interior walls on wheels allow the main hall to be easily reconfigured to accommodate both large and intimate events. Graduated hanging baffles improved acoustics and lighting. An office/classroom added at mezzanine level behind the stage also has moveable interior walls and can function as part of a stage set. The building’s historic sensibility is balanced with accents of exuberant paint colors and lighting fixtures. A controlled perimeter was installed on the patio to create an outdoor event space.
